10 ways to disguise a workout - Fitness Friday

Hello! It's Fitness Friday again!

If you are anything like me, the thought of going to the gym or going on a run sounds TERRIBLE -  at least until you go do it. Then you realize it was totally worth it.

I struggle every day with trying to get myself to the gym or trying to get a work out in.

The good news? There are lots of ways to work out that don't feel like a standard, dreaded gym sesh!

Here are 10 ways to workout without hitting the gym:
  1. Play a sport - volleyball, soccer, flag football, ultimate Frisbee, tennis, etc. (volleyball is my favorite!)
  2. Go on a hike.
  3. Shop till you drop (no but really - walking and shopping all day burns some calories!)
  4. Take your four legged friend for a walk. Throw a ball for them repeatedly at the park.
  5. Get roudy in the bedroom......
  6. Paint a room in your house or the exterior. You'll feel it in your arms and abs!
  7. Help a friend move. Especially if they are on the 2nd or 3rd floor.
  8. Go swimming. Get in and out, go of the diving board and swim around to maximize activity.
  9. Garden and weed - lift heavy soil bags, push the lawn mower, and use your muscles to pull out those pesky weeds!!!
  10. DANCE.
What other ways to you like to get a work out in, in the "non-standard" way? I'd love to hear them!

On my self reported fitness journey...

I had a really, really bad week on the fitness front. In fact I think I may need to kill these Fitness Friday posts because they don't seem to be motivating me the way I had hoped, and with the lack of commitment and results I don't feel qualified to keep preaching about fitness...
However, I'm not kicking it to the curb just yet.

Here's to hoping I can get back on track next week.

Have a fabulous weekend!

  1. Dancing is my fave! Playing tag or hide and go seek with the kiddos too! Or jumping on the trampoline.

    1. Good ideas Brittney! I haven't jumped on a trampoline in years - I think I need to add that to my summer bucket list!
