Friday {Grateful} Favorites

Happy Friday!

While I know I'm best at complaining around these parts, today I wanted to flip the switch (even though my back is killing me and I should be looking for a new job) and talk about some things that I am so thankful for today. (Better late than never right?)

It is the month of thanks after-all is it not? Plus I've been meaning to join into all the grateful link ups popping up around these parts. And it's Friday, so only happy things for today!

1 | I am so grateful for my family and the love and support they give me. While I usually take it for granted it is so special to only have them a call or a short drive away. I was reminded of just how caring my parents are this past weekend. My baby sister was supposed to come home for the weekend for a volleyball tournament but instead woke up with strep throat Friday morning. She was stuck up at school and had to miss a trip she was very much looking forward to. My parents (specifically my mom) were devastated for her. Not being able to make things better from where they were they did the next best thing. Over-nighted a care package for my ailing sister. It made me remember all the sweet packages my mom sent to me while I was in school and the little things she does for me all the time. There are very few people who go above and beyond like that, and I'm glad my parents are some of them!

2 | To have a home to call my own. With the furnace, water heater and back flow system all going out this year there were moments I was not so happy to be a home owner. But around this time of year when I have beautiful home to decorate for the season and welcome my friends and family into, it makes me incredibly happy. It's home, and it's mine, and I know it something to be so thankful for.

3 | This amazing blogisphere. I participated in another one of Helene's FREE webinars this week with the guest host Taylor from The Daily Tay! Each webinar I attend is beneficial, but what is better are the connections I make and the time spent chatting/snapping my blogging friends who are there "with" me at the webinar even though we are miles apart. This year one of the attendees did something so amazing, she compiled a list of all the bloggers in attendance! The lovely Lexi went to the trouble of scrolling through the chat box and listing all the bloggers so that we can go back and connect. That my friends is what is so great about this blogland. The effort we all make to connect and help each other!

4 | My pup. All day, everyday, he's the reason I can find a smile.

5 | A fridge full of food and a closet full of clothes. Sure, I wish I could do some fall/winter wardrobe updating and that I could splurge on a steak now and then. Even though right now money is too tight to do that, I am incredibly lucky to have what I have. So when I walk in my closet and proclaim "I have nothing to wear" I need to remember to be grateful for what I have.

This was a much needed post on a week where things seemed to go wrong more than right. There is so much to be happy about! And now it's Friday!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

  3. This is so sweet. Gunner is the best!!!! :) it's so hard to be thankful when things don't go right for us all the time but when I see someone homeless I'm instantly put back in my place. I have a roof over my head and more than enough food in the pantry! Happy weekend, for!

  9. So sweet, and so many lovely thankful thoughts. Thanks for sharing xx It's hard to remember to be thankful sometimes, it's so much easier focusing on negativity (grr, why is that?). That's so sweet about the blogging webinar, too xxx

  10. Where can you find some current link ups at? I've never participated in one before, but I'd love to give it a try! And so true about the clothes. I'm always in the same boat, trying to work with champagne taste on a beer budget. I swear I've worn the same clothes for the last five seasons, with the addition of a couple things here and there, but I could be worse off. I'm grateful for what I do have.

  18. I know my dogs are one thing I am always thankful for. Even on my worst days they are so happy to see me :) Getting my Christmas tree up this weekend really made me thankful for our home. My favorite time to come home is November/December when our house and cozy and Christmas.

  19. Dear Laura,

YOU ARE MY BEST FRIEND. Thank you for the shout out and those kind words, that means so incredibly much to me! I'm so happy you and fellow bloggers loved that list.

It is so important that we remind ourselves what we are grateful for. I know I personally get caught up in the hecticness of life and sometimes it's great just to take a deep breath and remember the little things
