Staying positive and making gains!

Happy Fitness Friday my friends!

Today I am happy to report I have some progress to share.

No, I haven't lost a pant size. No, I haven't lost noticeable weight. And no, I'm not ready for that bikini this summer.

BUT, I have made progress. How? I have increased weight on almost all of the exercises I do at the gym. Sure I'm no body builder, but I'm pretty proud of this progress!

Here's a little snap shot of my gains as far as lifting:
  • Push-ups: start rep 10, current rep 20
  • Lunges: start weight 0, current weight 20 lbs (2 x 10 lb dumbbells)
  • Tricep extensions: start weight 30 lbs, current weight 45 lbs
  • Bicep curls: start weight 20 lbs, current weight 40 lbs
  • Dumbbell press: start weight 30 lbs, current weight 50 lbs.

I know it doesn't seem that exciting. Not seeing immediate results in my body can be discouraging. However, I know, as a former athlete and with my knowledge of working out that although I can't see a difference - these numbers mean a difference.

The one difference in my body I did notice recently? It's getting pretty hard to get my iPod armband around my bicep now. This frustrates me because it means my arm is getting even bigger (gag), but I know it's all muscle. You should see my gun show... haha.

So I take these little changes as progress, because I can, and they excite me. I'm closer to that body I want than I was when I started Fitness Friday 4 weeks ago. These little changes ignite me to keep going, to push through and to see those numbers continue to rise (hopefully with other numbers going down ;) ).

What motivates you? Do you take into account these little changes like I do to keep that fire going?

Hope you have an amazing weekend! Thanks for reading!
