THE SNOWPACALYPSE

I wasn’t sure I was going to show up here today.

My blogging mojo hasn’t been what it should lately and I apologize that the content has wavered a bit. I actually wrote a really personal, emotional post about why that is…but I chickened out and never posted it.

Basically I’m lacking motivation in all things life lately – and it’s a struggle. That’s all you need to know.

That being said, I’m here (yipeee!) So I might as well fill you in on my weekend.

We had the SNOWPACALYPSE here. It started Thursday and went all the way till Friday afternoon. The roads were so bad on the drive home Thursday (it took more than double the normal time) that I already had made up my mind I wasn’t driving to work Friday.

Had to drink this after I got home Thursday because I was so stressed after the drive!

 

Friday morning I woke up to my concern being justified as all the schools in the district were cancelled. If they have a snow day, I sure as hell am taking a snow day!

Ok a little detail into the SNOWPACALYPSE:

• It had been 68 degrees less than a week before it began. That’s T-shirt weather people.
• We hadn’t had a solid frost or really gone below freezing yet this year
•  It snowed 9 inches in about 24 hours. I can’t remember the last time we EVER had that much snow in Boise, especially in November.
• People drive like idiots when it snows
• Then temps dropped to single digits, just to make sure the SNOWPACALYPSE lasted…

I know what some of you are thinking, “big whoop, 9 inches is nothing.” However, when you live in a town that rarely sees more than an inch of snow at a time, it’s a BIG ASS DEAL. Our community just isn’t prepared for that, especially in November and the roads are still awful even today because we don’t have the facilities to clear them.

Don’t get me wrong, I love snow. I just love it when I don’t have to go anywhere. And it’s Christmas. This early BS makes it feel like Christmas and yet I still have to wait a month and a half. Ugh.

Anyways, long story short, I had a snow day Friday. I didn’t leave the house other than to go to lunch with James’ parents, because it was his dad’s birthday. I spent a majority of the day on the couch, but also baked cookies and made a nice dinner for us. That night we watched Captain America: The Winter Soldier because that title seemed fitting with the day…

Saturday we spent trudging through the snow at the car dealerships among the snow blobs (cars) in the lot. After a couple test drives I finally decided what I wanted!!!!

The BF left early Sunday morning for his next business trip. Luckily I had these snuggle bugs to keep me warm through the morning.

Then it was go time! I went to pick up a prescription and get some Starbucks before my dad and I headed to the dealer to buy my first car! But that day was bound to be a doozy. Right off the bat, I locked the keys in my car at Starbucks. Insert profanities.  Once rescued and after I tore my house apart looking for the spare, we were once again on our way to buy my car.

I’m not going to go into a ton of details on this, because like a terrible blogger, I didn’t take any pictures. PLUS I can’t pick up my new car till tonight because I chose it right off a truck they were hauling in. Apparently they can’t sell it right off the truck – they have to get it ready for me. So tonight is the night!

Once I actually get my car maybe it will all feel real. Maybe I’ll even do a post on the whole experience because believe me, it was more drama than I even imagined.

After the torturous (but awesome) deal we made at the dealer my dad and I needed a beer (or two). Then we headed over to their house for our usual Sunday dinner together.

Between the SNOWPACALYPSE and buying a car it was a pretty big weekend!

Hopefully the weather (and my nerves after the major purchase) will thaw out a bit this week…
