Thirsty Thursday | Hot Apple Pie

I am so excited to be linking up with my new friend Kristin for Thirsty Thursday! I've shared this recipe briefly before, but I didn't give it the emphasis it deserved.

Now that I have Thirsty Thursday it is the perfect excuse to bring this one to light, especially with the chill that's still in the air!

I think a lot of people have tried some version of apple pie moonshine, or spiked apple cider. Well this takes it to a whole other level!

This concoction is made up in large quantities (batch) and is perfect for holiday parties, ski trips, and although we're a little late for it, football tailgates. I made this for my Ugly Sweater Party and it was a HUGE HIT!

Ingredients:

-          One 12 Pack Angry Orchard Hard Cider

-          1 Fifth Fireball Whiskey

-          1/3 Bottle Dr. McGillicuddy’s Apple Pie Liqueur

Directions: In a large pot on the stove, add half of each ingredient listed above. Heat to just before boiling. Transfer to thermal/hot liquid container or dispenser. Repeat with second half of ingredients (I did two large pots at the same time to get it all done at once).

Serve in mug or shot glass for sipping. Store any extras in mason jars in the refrigerator. Reheat and enjoy!

At my party I used shot glasses so that everyone could try it. Most opted after their “taster” to fill up a pint glass.

Be careful, this will knock you on your ass and it tastes so dang good, you don’t realize it’s about ½ liquor!

Fun fact: did you know you can order an “Angry Balls” at any bar that has Angry Orchard on tap? That’s just the hard cider with a shot of Fireball in it. Ask your waitress – she’ll think you’re crazy until you tell her what it is.

Side note: I halved the original recipe that we got from the Fireball booth at a local event. Originally it called for; 24 pack Angry Orchard, 1 Handle (half gallon) of Fireball, and ½ Bottle of Dr. McGillicuddy’s. I just didn’t see the need for that much of it – nor did I have the cash to fork out for that much alcohol!

Well there you have it - two apple-y delicious concoctions for you to try!

Now go give Kristin some love and join the party!

  2. Jeez, hosting two link-ups now! You are quite the busy bee miss lady! When I was a waitress at a sports bar, I would get the occasional request for an Angry Balls and might've had a look of "what the hell is that" on my face. At least waitressing taught me something like alcohol, ha! Looks super yummy!
