I Need a Vacation From My Vacation

I'm baaaaack....

And completely and utterly exhausted. We landed about midnight Saturday and only having Sunday as a buffer between the trip and the real world just wasn't enough.

The trip was AMAZING. It seemed like super long days, yet the week itself went ridiculously fast.

We saw SO much and yet could have easily stayed another 2 weeks. There's just way too much to do and see in DC!

Everyday was go-go-go from start to finish. Via my FitBit I know we logged 9+ miles of walking each day. Add in record highs in the DC area, and humidity which us Idaho folks aren't used to, and we were basically the walking dead each time we arrived home in the evenings.

I will do a more detailed post later this week once I download my camera photos. But for now, here's the overview, and a few shots I had on my phone.

Our week in DC we...
  • went to a Nationals baseball game
  • stayed in a history row home
  • went on a 4 hour walking tour of the National Mall
  • got evacuated from our Capitol tour
  • ate free yogurt in our senator's office
  • toured the Library of Congress
  • visited the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History
  • toured the National Cathedral
  • took two day-time trolley tours
  • visited the Smithsonian Museum of American History
  • took a moonlight trolley tour of all the major sites
  • visited Arlington Cemetery, the eternal flame, and the Tomb of the Unknowns
  • watched the changing of the guards ceremony
  • shopped in historic Geogetown
  • visited the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum
  • explored the National Gallery of Art
  • went to the National Zoo
  • saw a show in the Einstein Planetarium
  • visited the United States Holocaust Museum
  • drank beers (well dad and me) at two local breweries
  • successfully road the metro just about everywhere

I can't wait to fill you in more. I hope you had a great time with all my guest bloggers! Please accept my apology in advance that this week might be a little slim here in the blog world. It's going to be a rough week getting back to reality!

  13. One thing about vacation is that you do seem to walk a lot... kind of offsets all the food and booze. Or at least that's what I tell myself. ;) I'm glad you had a good time! We haven't been to DC in years but I have several friends there. Um I don't do well in heat/humidity so you guys were troopers!
