I took a little unitentional blogging break. I had every intention to blog when I got home from Moscow Sunday night, but instead was rushed off to a football watching party followed by late night Taco Bell (no complaints). Then Monday I had a bit of a breakdown, and I'll just leave it at that, so I didn't blog either.
So here's the weekend recap a little late, but so worth it. It's photo dump, be prepared.
Friday I made the drive up to Moscow for my sister's 21st birthday. The weekend that followed was worth every single mile, times two! Plus add in my best friend tagging along and it was double the fun, and the crazy!
Lise's birthday was Friday, so we were prepped and ready to head out that night. We started at the local Mexican joint for the classic free birthday shot, sombrero and "feliz cumpleaƱos." It's a must.
Please don''t mind my 8 chins
Then was on to the "21 run" bar hop through town. It was a combination of long lost memories and laughs as we hit all my old haunts, feeding Lise booze and free birthday shots along the way.
Though I was trying to pace myself, and stuck to beer, I have to say my sister sort of drank me under the table. She made it to 21 drinks with grace, still walking, talking and fully functioning. She's my hero.
I was a little fuzzy to say the least. Damn getting old.
drunk eyes much? PS - that's her 21st drink!!!
Saturday was a bit of struggle in the morning, but nothing some good food and a nap couldn't fix. After our recovery we wanted to do something special for my sister that she wouldn't normally do on just any weekend. Originially I wanted to find a pumpkin patch, but instead my friend recommended Sunshine Crafts and Flowers, a U-pick flower farm just outside of town.
It was the best $8 I've ever spent. It was a gorgeous day, sunny and 75 with a slight breeze, and as we pulled up into the farm my jaw hit the ground. The field was still FULL of blooms, snapdragons, sunflowers, poppies, and many I couldn't name. We grabbed our buckets and clippers and were off, snapping pictures along the way.
I can't believe I had never been to this place before. If I had known about it during my time at school I would have been out there every weekend for fresh cut flowers. Oh - and in springtime? Peonies the size of your face! I can't wait to go back again when those are in bloom. And the views in and out of the farm? The Palouse of northern Idaho and Washington is pretty spectacular.
After arranging flowers back at the house, we hit up two for one margaritas, dinner at the local pub and force fed Lise a few more drinks at the bar we missed the first night.
Fortunately she was ready for ice cream and Pitch Perfect after that, because I don't think I could have made it for round two!
Sunday we took our much needed stroll through campus to get our needed dose of "basic" photos in. Matching outfits, boots, leaves, a Starbs latte, you get the idea.
This is how the whole weekend made me feel. It was amazing.
Looks like so much fun! I love a good 21st birthday! Mine was so minimal since it's a holiday...I had one drink! I feel you on the drunk eyes though....that is always how everyone can tell I'm past tipsy!
