My Happy List

Sometimes the world gets you down, your motivation is no where to be found, and what you need more than anything is a hug and steaming mug of cocoa.

I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers

Good thing we have Octobers for that.

Today I wanted to focus on the things that made me happy this week. I too often find myslef lingering in the negatives of life, when in reality, I have so much to be grateful for.

1 | New Life. After a lot of phone tag with one of my best friends who's birthday was last weekend, we finally connected. It was a much needed catch up, but what made me even more giddy? Her news of a little one on the way.  I knew when she texted me after phone tag one night "I have something I need to tell you" that this would be it. But hearing it still brought me butterflies, goosebumps and tears. It was just what I needed to start my week.

2 | A Date Night. It's not often that I'm the one not planning our nights out. So it gives me so much joy when the BF suggests something, and buys us tickets. Especially when it's to somewhere I've wanted to go for so long (and with beer!) The local aquarium is hosting an adults only night this evening and I am so excited to go with my guy!

3 | Blog Love. Every once in a while a week stands out where I feel I got extra support, met new, amazing ladies, and am re-inspired to make this space all that it can be. This was one of those weeks. From all the well wishes I recieved after my injury and all the postitive remarks about my half marathon, comments had me smiling all week long. And with Helene's #GetNoticedNow Webinar on Wednesday and  the new friends it brought my way I'm feeling blessed to be part of such an awesome community of so many outstanding bloggers. Oh, and the snapchats with an old time blog friend all webinar long didn't hurt either.

4 | Me Time. I had a few extra hours to myself this week and it really helped me re-energize. Although I spent all those hours busily making a DIY blanket scarf and getting my hair done drinking my first ever PSL, it was time just "off." It also helped that the BF offered to bring home dinner one night and we went out for dinner one night as well. I never realize the stress cooking dinner puts on me each night (even though I love to cook!) and what a relief sometimes it is to have a break.

5 | Falling for Fall. It's that time and  I know you're probably sick of hearing about it. Though I've never been a self proclaimed lover of fall, it's hard not to be with everyone spewing her graces. With boot and scarf weather (hopefully) on it's way and the glimmer of the holiday season just around the corner, it's hard not to feel happy that fall is here again. Here with all her pumpkin flavored glory, promises of crisp leaves and warm drinks, and the feeling that the world may slow down just a little for us to enjoy the wind down of what seemed the busiest year yet.

What made you happy this week?

  5. I love this so much. I am getting really bogged down in what's not working that I need to stop and look at what is working before I start to make even more messes out of life! Thanks for the reminder. And yay for support + date nights from the boyfriend :)

  7. I love this! I focus on the negative way to often too and I really need to work on it!

I already own three blanket scarves but I so want to try making my own! How did yours turn out?! And that date night sounds fun! Having to always plan everything is the worst so its great that all the work was done for you!

Also, how much for the tree? (Insert a million crying laughing faces here)

  13. That is so funny, one of my really good friends texted me from the restroom of a drug store on vacation a few weeks ago. "I'm late. I'm hiding in the bathroom with a test. My mom is outside, she knows nothing." The horror! I was so panicked, you would think I was the one with the test. It is so so funny, because when I was younger, I was so sure that when I was "older" I would feel differently about pregnancy "scares.' But no... I'm about to be 29 and still horrified :)

Isn't it amazing how someone else's child-related news makes your heart so dang happy?? I cried when my best friend told me she was pregnant and I swoon every time I cuddle her child! Have a wonderful weekend!

  20. My happy list is just being able to take it easy this weekend. Getting the hang of Illustrator.. Brownies with ice cream and for a hurricane that turned out to be nothing more than just slightly heavy rain on Friday alone. :) Have a great one Laura and congratulations to your friend! -Iva
