The Freakin' Weekend

It was a weekend for the books friends! I know I'm tuning in a little late here today, but the fact that I'm going to have a weekend recap on a Monday is huge. This never happens.

It was a really great weekend so I just have to share a little of it.
Friday night started with our date night to the Aquarium of Boise. The BF bought us tickets to their adult only night which was a fundraiser of sorts, and had food, beer and of course the chance to explore the aquarium minus the screaming children.

Aquarium of Boise

Since I live in a completely landlocked state I tried to not let my hopes get too high about the aquarium. Plus a few years back they had all sorts of legal trouble regarding black market trades for the animals...However, I found out that night it has since been taken over by a non-profit board and is in the clear.

Oh, and that the little aquarium of ours is AWESOME! They have a petting tank for sting rays and sharks, two separate tide pool touch areas, multiple large tanks and dozens of smaller ones. Plus reptiles and birds!

The sting rays were by far the coolest. Since you can buy good to feed them, they come up to anyone around the tank in hopes to be fed. They pop out of the water and look at you! I swear they are smiling. Just hanging out, flapping their fins, waiting for a pet and some food. So amazing!

Saturday I was up bright and early to meet my mom for the biggest dog party ever. Well at least I like to think so. The event had over 3,000 dogs and their pet parents. It includes a mile long walk through the park, vendor booths, and my favorite, dog contests!

This year we participated in the Dressed to the K-nines costume contest. I'm happy to report we made it into the finals (which I didn't expect because it's stiff competition), but we did not win. Still it was a really fun thing to do with my mom and our dogs. And who doesn't love Star Wars?

Star Wars Pet Costumes

Saturday afternoon and evening was spent at our tailgate spot drinking pumpkin beers and eating way too much tailgate food.

Sunday was all R&R and chores around the house. Gunner was still pooped from all the butt sniffing he did at the dog party Saturday.

And that was our weekeend!

  14. ohhhhhhh that last pic :) :) So, I'd have to think that my cheeks would be hurting from all the grinning after that dog party. What a great day out! I love a good aquarium visit too. There are actually two here in the Sydney area, and each has a little something extra about them.
